Can you share with us, a bit about your journey within the life science and medtech recruitment industry leading up to this promotion?

I’ve been working in Diagnostics recruitment for about 4 years and what a rollercoaster. It’s not always been easy but I’ve always strived to improve, adapt and learn from everything recruitment has thrown at me.

How does it feel to be promoted to the position of Associate Director at Kapia? What are your initial thoughts and emotions about this achievement?

It’s great to be recognised for my hard work and dedication to everything Kapia stands for. It’s a tough year in recruitment and life sciences as a whole, so to achieve this milestone now really does mean more than ever.

As a Principal Consultant, you have already made significant contributions to the company. What do you believe were the key factors that led to this promotion?

Consistency and creativity. Recruitment is all about setting yourself apart and delivering what you promise. I’m very confident in my ability to overcome challenges in processes and I believe my clients feel the same, which is why they keep using me.

In your opinion, what sets Kapia apart from other recruitment companies in the life science and medtech market, and how does this promotion align with the company’s values and goals?

I truly think what sets Kapia apart is our emphasis on collaboration. Notoriously recruiters are extremely competitive and this can also be seen inside companies, which can sometimes draw attention away from providing the best solution for clients. Here at Kapia we truly work as one, discussing our vacancies, sharing candidates and joining forces to ensure the best possible service for clients and candidates.

Can you share a memorable experience from your career that has shaped your approach to recruitment and leadership?

Recruitment is full of memorable experiences because truly no two processes are the same. I feel the experiences that have shaped me as a recruiter have been the ones that haven’t been successful. I will always be thankful for the resilience and attention to detail these have instilled in me and I certainly won’t forget them.

Building strong client relationships is crucial in the recruitment field. How do you plan to enhance and maintain client relationships as an Associate Director?

Honesty, transparency, and consistency is how I would describe my favourite clients to work with and it’s also the standard I hold myself to.

What advice do you have for aspiring consultants looking to progress in their careers and potentially achieve promotions like yours within the industry?

Keep going. Recruitment is a turbulent industry at the best of times, but consistency and getting into some small positive habits is key.

In the dynamic and rapidly evolving life science and medtech sectors, how will you stay ahead of the curve and keep the team updated on industry trends and developments?

Network, Network, Network! You can read as many articles you like but hearing about industry trends and novel technologies from people in the industry is unrivalled.

Can you share an example of a particularly challenging recruitment project you’ve worked on and how you successfully overcame obstacles to achieve a positive outcome?

This year has been full of challenging projects, as the IVD industry has been hit with the after effects of Covid-19, so it’s tough to pick just one. However the highlight for me, was expanding my own technical knowledge and ability by helping a long term client with some particularly difficult and notoriously hard to fill roles, in an area I’d never recruited for before. Turns out, I’m pretty good at IT connectivity- definitely one to add to the ever growing list of disciplines I cover in the diagnostics space.

Lastly, is there anyone you would like to thank or acknowledge for their support and guidance in your career journey so far?

I absolutely could not have done it without the support of the other female recruiters here at Kapia over the past year. In such a male led industry, their support has really meant so much to me. And for Goran for giving me a push when I’ve not always believed in myself.
